"A trip to butterfly gardens along the border could produce a first-time record butterfly from Mexico or at least a rarity that must be confirmed with the aid of a comprehensive field guide", says DeLeon.Part of a Mission Butterfly Festival tour group: Sam and Jeryl Leifeste got the most of their visit to the Old Hidalgo Pumphouse butterfly gardens. Jeryl quickly learned some of the secrets to successful butterfly photography - approach the creature slowly, don't let your shadow fall on the butterfly, and keep the camera steady.
